Our first night on the road was spent at a hotel in Ducey located in the old mill. We had a restfull night here.
The route from Ducey largely followed an ex railroad bed, so it was a nice and even grade, but unexpectedly wasn't paved. Bea was a champ for riding so much gravel on her tiny wheels with 23mm tires.
The World Cup match against Belgium was a big deal, of course. Even this Carrefour was getting into the spirit of the competition.
We lunched in a field with our bounty from the grocery store.
The route was dominated by the pastoral landscape of the region.
Here we turned off the railroad grade for a while and the riding got a little more challenging.
The gites for the day was a huge loft. Bea made friends with the neighbors' cat. We had a little kitchen, which was great because the restaurants in town were all closed due to the big game. We watched the little we could on the patchy wifi on a tiny mobile phone screen.
