Summer makes an appearance

One of our first pieces of mail made it to Cembalogatan: a package to be picked up at the grocery store on the other side of the motorway. Rats! One would hope that packages would get delivered to our nearby corner grocery, but no.

Still, packages are always welcome. What could it be?

Congratulations! Bea won a prize from a contest she entered in a Lego Club contest. Lego Pirates are making a comeback, and she got a little island fort and a poor pirate stranded in a half-barrel. In shark-infested waters.

The "loggia" makes an excellent Lego-building environment.

But with the sun out briefly yesterday we had to spend time outside.

This local playground is the most elaborate, expensive children's play area you've ever seen.

There's a wading pool nearby too.

And a fountain at Mariatorget, which we hit up for some gelato and a used book store, but also stumbled upon...

..,the Pride parade, which we probably should have planned around.

After a couple misfired adventures in the car today, we ended up at Djurgården past the embassy and Rosendals Slott and its gardens.

Gaspard, as always, loves his flowers.

Pick-your-own bouquets.

Then we hit the Kaknästornet for a view from the observation deck.

Hans remembers visiting this when he was 13 and it was Scandinvia's tallest building and thinking, "huh, Scandinavia just doesn't really have any tall buildings, does it?"

Still, the view is nice. Here's the city with a storm coming in. By the time we left it had hit us and we ran through the rain in the parking lot. In this shot you can't really see Telefonplan, which surprised us. It's all the way to the left, right behind a black tower and some kind of brown buildings.

The rain at least awarded us this in the evening.
